Nakshatra - Calculate Tara

To calculate Tara in Vedic astrology, follow these steps:

1. Identify the Janma Nakshatra: Determine the Nakshatra (lunar mansion) occupied by the Moon at the time of birth. This is known as the Janma Nakshatra or birth star.
2. Count from the Janma Nakshatra: Starting from the Janma Nakshatra, count the Nakshatras in sequence. The first Nakshatra from the Janma Nakshatra is the Janma Tara, the second is Sampat Tara, the third is Vipat Tara, and so on.
3. Assign Taras to Planets: Determine the Nakshatra occupied by each planet in the birth chart. Based on its position relative to the Janma Nakshatra, assign the corresponding Tara to that planet. For example, if Mars is located three Nakshatras away from the Janma Nakshatra, it would be in the Vipat Tara.

Here's a simplified example:

Let's say a person's Janma Nakshatra is Ashwini. If Mars is located in Bharani Nakshatra, which is the second Nakshatra from Ashwini, then Mars would be in the Sampat Tara for that person.

Important Considerations:

• Nakshatra Division: Each Nakshatra spans 13 degrees and 20 minutes. When calculating Tara, consider the exact degree of the Moon and planets within their respective Nakshatras.
• Directional Strength: The strength of a planet's influence in a particular Tara depends on its directional strength. For example, the Sun is strongest in the 10th house from itself, so if the Sun is in the Kshema Tara (4th from the Janma Nakshatra), it would be considered stronger than if it were in the Pratyak Tara (5th from the Janma Nakshatra).
• Multiple Planets in One Tara: If multiple planets occupy the same Tara, their combined influence needs to be considered. This can create complex interactions and modifications of the Tara's effects.
